I asked Chat GPT to review the contents of this site, and using that knowledge, write some poems about Hidden High Potentials. (Which you can go research if you’re unfamiliar. I’ll wait for you here.)
My first attempt was requesting a sonnet, no style otherwise:
Amidst the crowds, a gem oft goes unseen, A talent shining bright, but rarely found, A Hidden High Potential, yet to glean The recognition it deserves profound. With skills unique and knowledge so refined, It waits, unrealized, and undefined, A precious gift, untapped and undefined, Its full potential, still to be entwined. Yet, in this world of chaos and of strife, The Hidden High Potential waits in sight, Its value, like a beacon, burns so bright, A source of innovation and of life. So, let us seek these treasures, far and wide, And let their brilliance shine, no more to hide.
That wasn’t awful, as middle school poetry goes, but I wondered if Chatty could do better. So, I asked for a rap song, in the style of Run DMC. Because, as is so often pointed out, I’m old.
Verse 1: Listen up y'all, here's a story to tell 'Bout Hidden High Potentials, you know them well The ones with skills that are undervalued But their potential's vast and yet unapproved Verse 2: They got talent, creativity and insight But for some reason, they just can't take flight Maybe it's bias or lack of support Or they're stuck in a system that won't resort Chorus: But don't give up, Hidden High Potentials You got what it takes, you're exceptional Keep pushing, keep striving, don't ever give in Your moment is coming, let your greatness begin Verse 3: It takes a vision to see what's hidden To recognize the talent that's forbidden Organizations need to open their eyes And unleash the potential that's been disguised Verse 4: So, Hidden High Potentials, don't you fret Your time is coming, don't you forget You got skills that are rare and unique And when you're given the chance, you'll surely peak Chorus: But don't give up, Hidden High Potentials You got what it takes, you're exceptional Keep pushing, keep striving, don't ever give in Your moment is coming, let your greatness begin Verse 5: It's time to break the cycle, time to break free And let Hidden High Potentials be who they're meant to be With creativity and innovation on the rise The world will be a better place, with no surprise Outro: So, Hidden High Potentials, it's time to shine With Run DMC, we say "it's your time" Keep pushing, keep striving, don't ever give in Your moment is coming, let your greatness begin.
I’ve certainly seen worse imitation Run DMC songs, many perpetrated by my friend, Hamish Squeeg, while not being entirely in his right mind. Frankly, I was giving up but I wondered if I weren’t being too obtuse. So I requested “song in the style of Tiny Tim about Hidden High Potentials’ ability to make companies more successful”.
And got gold.
Verse 1: Oh, tiptoe through the office floor And what do you see? Oh, so much more Hidden High Potentials, with their talent and grace They can make companies soar, and win the race Chorus: Hidden High Potentials, oh, can't you see? The value you bring, oh, it's oh so key With your skills and knowledge, you can't be ignored You can help companies succeed, oh, you're adored Verse 2: Oh, in every corner, and every hall Hidden High Potentials, with a unique call They got creativity, they got innovation They can lead to success, without hesitation Chorus: Hidden High Potentials, oh, can't you see? The value you bring, oh, it's oh so key With your skills and knowledge, you can't be ignored You can help companies succeed, oh, you're adored Verse 3: Oh, it's time for companies to take a chance On Hidden High Potentials, oh, they'll enhance The way things are done, the way things are made They can lead to growth, without any trade Chorus: Hidden High Potentials, oh, can't you see? The value you bring, oh, it's oh so key With your skills and knowledge, you can't be ignored You can help companies succeed, oh, you're adored Outro: Oh, tiptoe out of the office floor And spread the word, oh, oh so more Hidden High Potentials, with their talents and grace They can make companies soar, and win the race.
I awarded extra points for harkening to Tiny Tim’s classic 1968 hit from Laugh-In, “Tiptoe Through the Tulips”. Plus it’s just the type of drivel that Khaury could have sung, if he’d gotten a gig at Glacier Metals afterwards.
But what would it be if I didn’t ask another AI to generate an image of “Color image from 1968 of Chat GPT as a person playing the ukelele on Laugh-In TV show.”
